Phytoplankton Production in the South-eastern Pacific

Abstract

THE distribution of phytoplankton concentration and its photosynthetic rate in the surface waters of the southeastern Pacific are shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Measurements were made during the following cruises: Costa Rica Dome, November–December 1959; Step-I, September–December 1960; Swansong, October–December 1961; and the cruise of the Esmeralda (Chilean Navy), July–August 1962.
