Abstract
THE intensive examination of human chromosomes during the past two years has led to important discoveries in the understanding of certain disorders. Similar studies on domestic animals have barely begun. Before this can be carried out on a large scale, however, it is necessary to develop techniques which can be readily applied in the field since the standard methods used for the display of human chromosomes from cultures of the white blood cells are not necessarily directly applicable to the domestic animals. In this communication we describe the technique we have developed as a result of our interest in the chromosomes of the domestic ox.
