Dielectric Loss and Hydration of Sodium Chabazite

Abstract

WE have measured the apparent permittivity, ɛ′, and loss, ɛ″, of a sodium chabazite both anhydrous and partially hydrated Powdered Bay of Fundy chabazite containing Na+ and Ca++ in the approximate equivalent ratio 1 : 4 was cation exchanged to give a 95 per cent exchanged sodium chabazite. The powder was sieved through a 200-mesh sieve and packed in a concentric cylindrical cell described elsewhere1. It was then outgassed under vacuum for two days at 400° C From the unit cell dimensions and the chemical analysis, the density of the anhydrous zeolite was calculated as 1.659, while the packing fraction of the powder in the cell was 0.445.
