Abstract
IT is perhaps well known that rate data for the rapid adsorption of gases are scarce1. What data have been published, moreover, are usually complicated by a varying adsorbent temperature. It would seem that this complication must always be present whenever the rate of adsorption is much greater than the possible dissipation rate of the heat of adsorption. This is the situation in virtually all determinations of very rapid adsorption rates. The only recourse, therefore, appears to be in finding a satisfactory method of analysing rate data for a fluctuating adsorbent temperature. (One must as a consequence in this case simply accept the fact that the temperature coefficient of the adsorption rates will always to some degree be uncertain.)
