Abstract
FROM June until August 1960 an oceanographic survey of the lagoon at Manihiki Atoll, an atoll lying 10° south of the equator in the Northern Cook Group, was carried out by members of the New Zealand Oceanographic Institute. Blacklip pearl shell oysters (Pinctada margaritifera) are abundant in the lagoon and are exploited commercially.
