Establishment of Amœbic Hepatitis as a Distinct Cl inico-Pathological Entity

Abstract

THERE is much controversy as to whether or not amœbic hepatitis occurs as an entity, as distinct from the well-recognized amœbic liver abscess. Recently, we reported a case of long-standing amœbiasis with hepatomegaly which, on liver biopsy, showed histologically the presence of cells morphologically similar to amœbæ, diffusely infiltrating the liver without abscess formation1.
