A Sealed-edge Theory of Graphite ‘Compounds’


IN the stepwise formation and decomposition of certain graphite compounds, notably the bisulphate and the potassium compounds, surprise has often been expressed that one layer of carbon atoms can influence the behaviour of other layers that are several times the spacing of 3.35 Å. away.
