Abstract

INCIDENTAL to other comparative physiological investigations with taurine and zebu cattle1, it was possible to determine the potassium and sodium content of the erythrocytes of these species by flame spectrophotometry. Although there have been several recent reports concerning potassium and sodium in the blood of sheep and their interesting genetic implications2, there is a paucity of information regarding these elements in the red blood cells of cattle.
