Abstract
As part of an investigation into Daudel and Pullman's theory1 of the connexion between the carcinogenic activity of benzanthracene derivatives and their structure, we have made an accurate determination of the crystal structure of 9 : 10-dimethyl-1 : 2-benzanthracene. It is a potent carcinogen, unlike its parent, 1 : 2-benzanthracene, the structure of which we have reported previously2.
