Abstract
MEYER and Anderson1 recently found that moderately high temperatures inhibit symbiotic nitrogen fixation in subterranean clover grown in nutrient agar and they imply that their results may be applicable to all legumes under all conditions. Objection must be made to such a premature generalization, especially when it is maintained that these findings are of significance in relation to the culture of legumes under field conditions, particularly in tropical and sub-tropical environments.
