Abstract
THE present experiments were undertaken in order to see whether we could confirm the high visible mutation-rate relative to the lethal mutation-rate induced in Drosophila by phenylalanine mustard as compared with X-irradiation, reported by O. G. and M. J. Fahmy1. Since this high visible rate would imply (1) the existence of loci specifically concerned with visible mutations and as a group qualitatively different from non-visible loci and (2) a specific effect of the agent on such loci, it seemed important that this work be repeated.
