Abstract
SHEEP may be classified into three types, A, B or AB, according to whether they possess one, or another, or a mixture of two distinct hæmoglobins1–3. They may also be classified quite independently into two types, HK and LK, according to whether the concentration of potassium in their whole blood is relatively high or low4. Both sets of characters are determined genetically and the genes responsible are at different chromosomal loci3,5.
