Abstract
IT may be worth while pointing out that invagination is an organic process which is now known to occur at three levels of organic structure : (1) invagination of cells in the process of gastrulation, (2) invagination or ingrowth of furrows in the process of wall formation in the pollen mother cells of certain angiosperms, (3) ingrowth of dissepiments in the development of mitochondria in animal cells. The process thus applies to cell masses in gastrulation, to cell-wall formation in certain pollen mother cells, and to an organelle in the cytoplasm of animal cells.
