Abstract
ASCOSPORES of Neurospora crassa two to three times the normal size occur in many strains, though the frequency is low, probably less than one per thousand ascospores. A particular cross made in this laboratory produced an abnormally high frequency of giant ascospores (about 3.4 per cent), and since a number of these germinated and gave good cultures, a study of the phenomenon has been initiated.
