Angular Distribution of the Neutrons from the Reaction 7Li(d,n)8Be

Abstract

USING 680-kV. deuterons from the Van de Graaff generator at the University of Bergen, we have measured the energy spectrum and the angular distribution of the neutrons from the reaction 7Li(d,n)8Be. The energy spectrum of the neutrons has been found by measuring the recoil protons in photographic emulsions for the following angles ω, between the d and n directions in the laboratory system: 0°, 20°, 50°, 90°, 110°, 120° and 140°. A total of about 10,000 proton tracks, forming a maximum angle of 10° with the incident neutrons, have been investigated.
