Abstract
ALTHOUGH the nucleic acid purines are known to be essential growth-factors for several bacteria, they have not been found to produce any positive effect on the growth of fungi, except in four cases, namely, Phycomyces blakesleeanus1, Lenzites betulina, Polyporus abietinus and Polyporus annosus2. The last two, where a strong effect of adenine was noted, have now been more thoroughly investigated.
