Ignition of Methane–Air Mixtures by Rapid Compression

Abstract

INVESTIGATIONS into the spontaneous ignition of hydrocarbon–air mixtures by adiabatic compression are being made. It has been found that there are at least two types of ignition possible with methane–air mixtures under rapid compression.
