Abstract
BY far the most expensive and the heaviest part of betatrons, as usually constructed, is the iron yoke with its complicated pole-pieces. We propose to describe a mode of construction which uses no yoke, and which, though restricted in its applications, offers several important advantages over the original type of betatron.
