Abstract
THE Nutrition Panel of the Food Group of the Society of Chemical Industry is arranging a series of meetings for discussing the problems affecting manufactured foods in Great Britain. Sausages, soups, ice-creams, cake mixtures, jam, processed cheeses, and the like, form an important part of present-day dietary ; but there is still much to be learned about their nutritional significance. The first meeting of this series will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 1949, at Gas Industry House, 1 Grosvenor Place, London, S.W.l, at 6.30 p.m., and the subject will be "The Sausage as Food". The speakers will include Mr. H. P. Blunt, of the Ministry of Food, on "The History of Sausages" ; Mr. Osman Jones and Mr. M. G. Read, on the composition of fresh and processed sausages respectively ; and Dr. Magnus Pyke on "Sausages and Nutrition".
