Definitions of Bond-Energy in Physical Chemistry

Abstract

THE expression ‘bond-energy' continues to be used in at least two senses : (a) for the mean contribution from each bond of a given type to the total heat, —ΔH, of formation of the molecule from its constituent atoms ; (b) for the energy, ΔH, required to disrupt the molecule at a particular bond into two fragments.
