Abstract
SEVERAL years ago, I put forward1 two original equations for the flow of water in alluvium: the first for the wetted perimeter P in terms of the discharge Q, the second for the mean velocity V in terms of the hydraulic mean depth R and water surface slope S. Both expressions had the curious characteristic that they appeared to be independent of the grade of alluvium transported. They may be written in general terms
