Abstract
THROUGH the work of Dale and Loewi and their schools, acetylcholine is recognized as the effector substance of the cholinergic system and is known to be decomposed by an enzyme present in serum and tissues1 which is designated 'choline-esterase'2. It appears to be an undecided question whether choline-esterases from different tissues, such as blood and brain, are identical.
