Abstract
LIPMANN has recently reported1 that adenylic acid is partially phosphorylated to adenosino polyphosphate by preparations of Bacterium Delbrückii in the presence of acetylphosphate, and suggested that this compound may be an intermediate in the oxidation of pyruvic acid generally. If so, acetylphosphate should give an increased oxygen uptake with enzyme preparations which oxidize pyruvic acid completely.
