Abstract
VARIOUS investigators have tried1 to find an experimental method by which to determine if gases like hydrogen and helium are degenerated or not at very low temperatures2. All attempts of this kind have hitherto been unsuccessful. The principal difficulty results from the fact that the technique of the experimental methods used (measurements of the specific heats or the velocity of sound) do not permit of measurements at very low pressures where the van der Waals' forces have no influence.
