Abstract
BRIEF accounts have been given in NATURE1 of the flight of the American stratosphere balloon Explorer I and the subsequent mishap by which it was at first feared that most of the valuable photographic records had been destroyed. Subsequent expert development of the films shows that, whilst the whole of the objectives have not been secured, those records that have been saved have yielded interesting and confirmatory results to collateral researches.
