Abstract
SOME time ago, the Physical Society became convinced that results of value could be anticipated from an international conference on atomic (particularly nuclear) physics, and it was the intention of the Society to call such a con ference this year. At the same time, the British National Committee for Physics—one of the con stituent bodies which together form the Inter national Union of Pure and Applied Physics—proposed to invite the Union to hold its next meeting in Great Britain.
