Abstract
PROF. ARTHUR PRINCE CHATTOCK, A emeritus professor of physics in the University of Bristol, died at his home in Clifton, Bristol, on July 1 at the age of seventy-three years. Educated at University College School, University College, London, under Carey-Foster, and at Stuttgart, he started his career as an electrical engineer in the firm of Siemens. In 1885, however, he was appointed as the first lecturer in physics in University Cpllege, Bristol. He spent the following year in Liverpool under Sir Oliver Lodge and then returned to Bristol to take up the duties of a newly created chair in this subject.
