Abstract
THE two volumes now under notice complete this comprehensive work, which has already been noticed in NATURE (130, 617, Oct. 22; 1932: 131, 8, Jan. 7; 132,584; 1933). They deal, in the first volume, with the ammo acids, amides, amines and the betaines, all written by Dr. A. Wintcrstcin, the proteins compiled by Bergmann and Zervas, nucleins by Steudel and Peiser, alkaloids by Seka, cerebrosides by Thier-felder supplemented after his decease by Klenk, all being authorities of repute. In the second volume, Dr. Sjöberg discusses enzymes hi general, whilst Dr. Ziese deals with them in detail. The plant antigens are described by Eisler, the plant hormones by Loewe, plant vitamins by Wmterstein.
