    BIRMINGHAM.—The degree of D.Sc. in chemistry had been awarded to the following: John Alfred Valentine Butler, for numerous papers on “Studies in Heterogenous Equilibria”; and Harold Archibald Scarborough, for papers on “Saponification and Properties of Mixed Solvents.”
