Abstract
THE death of Camille Flammarion at the age of eighty-three years removes from the world of astronomy one of its greatest ornaments, and one of the most picturesque figures in French scientific circles generally. It is difficult to contemplate astronomy in France without the guiding hand of its beloved “maitre,” whose “eleves” are counted in all branches of society in all lands.
