Abstract
IN a recent letter to NATURE (January 3, p. 13) I have stated that, on current theories, it is exceedingly difficult to account for the results of experiments on the scattering and absorption of hard y-rays. I should like to add to this statement that a reasonable explanation of such results has since been obtained by means of the following assumptions, for which there is a certain amount of evidence:
