Abstract
PROF. CHAMPY is one of the most versatile and rapid of biological workers. Tissue-culture; amphibian metamorphosis; the mode of action of hormones; the theory of sex; growth;-he has touched on and illuminated all these fields within the last few years. In the present volume he presents a thesis, based on various aspects of this work, which is of considerable importance. Perhaps the best way to show its importance will be to set down a series of the established facts on which it is based, letting them tell their own story, and then criticising some of the more theoretical part of Champy's interpretation.
