Abstract
THE relation between chemical constitution and physiological action occupies a definite and important place in the study of drugs. Chemical investigation of a drug begins with the attempt to isolate the principle to which its activity is due. Then follow the determination of its constitution and the synthesis of a number of substances related to the parent compound, and comparison of their physiological action.
