Abstract

THE list of birthday honours includes the following names of men known in the scientific world:—Prof. C. Le Neve Foster, F.R.S., has received the honour of knighthood. Colonel D. A. Johnston, director-general of the Ordnance Survey, has been appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath. Dr. Robert Bell, F.R.S., acting director of the Geological Survey of Canada, has been appointed a Companion of the Imperial Service Order. The Hon. A. C. Gregory, formerly surveyor-general of Queensland, who has done much for exploration and the promotion of science in Australia, has been promoted to the rank of; K.C.M.G.
