Abstract
THIS book consists of two parts—the first, by Mr. Abbott, dealing with the non-metallic elements found in animal and vegetable substances; the second, by Mr. Key, on the detection and distribution of the elements in animal, vegetable and mineral substances. The former part contains a course of experimental work in chemistry of a kind with which many text-books have made us familiar. All that need be said of it is that most of the experiments are suitable for performance in the laboratory by beginners in chemistry, and that the book will assist the progress of rational methods of science teaching.
