Abstract
THE twenty-seventh annual session of the Institution of Naval Architects, held at the rooms of the Society of Arts, was one of the most successful of the series. The meetings began on the 14th inst. and concluded on the 17th. There were seven sittings, averaging from three to four hours each, and no less than eighteen papers were read and discussed. As on previous occasions, too much was attempted to be done in the time available, with the result that some important matters received scant notice. This may be to some extent inevitable in a Society embracing such wide and varied interests, yet meeting but once a year. But it may be anticipated that th autumn meetings in the outports which are now contemplated may somewhat relieve the congestion in future.
