Abstract
REFERRING to Mr. Brooke's article in NATURE of the 13th on Force and Energy, I would suggest that though it is quite true that heat is a “mode of motion,” this is probably not true of magnetism and static electricity. Heat is molecalar motion, magnetism and static electricity are molecular tensions.
