  Tri-explosophoric groups driven fused energetic heterocycles featuring superior energetic and safety performances outperforms HMX

  The design of high energy density materials (HEDM) with good detonation performance but which are also safe to handle is challenging. Here, the authors synthesize a PTX analogue and incorporate explosophoric groups to obtain an HEDM with improved detonation performance but low impact and friction sensitivity.

  Thermal runaway of Lithium-ion batteries employing LiN(SO₂F)₂-based concentrated electrolytes

  Concentrated electrolytes display superior thermal stability due to their non-flammability nature. Here, the authors show that LiN(SO₂F)₂-based concentrated electrolytes are incapable of solving the safety issues due to heat release during reaction between the lithiated graphite and electrolyte.

  Singlet oxygen-mediated selective C–H bond hydroperoxidation of ethereal hydrocarbons

  Singlet oxygen is known to react with carbon–carbon double bonds. Here, the authors show the unusual functionalization of α-ethereal C–H bonds mediated by singlet oxygen under mild conditions to afford lactones and hydroperoxide products.
