Abstract
Vaccines are at the leading edge of the great success story of evidence-based medicine. Through the twentieth century, medical and basic scientists working in both academia and industry developed the spectrum of familiar products that serve to minimize the toll levied by infections such as whooping cough, poliomyelitis and measles, particularly in the pediatric population.
