Skeletal muscle dressed in SOCs

Dong Min Shin & Shmuel Muallem

Skeletal muscle, Ca2+ and contraction are associated with L-type Ca2+ channels (LTCCs), ryanodine receptors (Ryrs), sarcoplasmic reticulum and ER Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA) pumps and excitation-contraction (E–C) coupling, but not with SOCs. However, this notion will have to be modified in view of recent studies showing that skeletal muscle is a prime site of expression and function of SOCs.
