Re-evaluation of the Synaptic Activation of an Electrogenic Sodium Pump

Abstract

A hyperpolarizing synaptic potential observed in Aplysia neurones is shown to be the result of an increase in potassium permeability. A re-evaluation is made of the criteria used to implicate the activation of an electrogenic pump.
