Terahertz/millimeter wave technology stands at the intersection of electronics and photonics, offering a fertile ground for technological innovation. With attributes like high carrier frequency, extensive communication capacity, and non-ionizing properties, this frequency band holds immense promise in long-distance imaging, remote sensing, biomedical detection, and ultra-high-speed wireless communications. Looking ahead, we envisage that a myriad of applications will surface in the realm of mm Wave and Terahertz band, holding the potential to unveil novel discoveries in science and technology.

In this collection at Communications Engineering and Nature Communications, we aim to bring together cutting-edge research on Terahertz/millimeter wave technology, crossing multidisciplinary areas. Areas of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Millimeter wave communications,
  • Terahertz/satellite communications,
  • 5G/6G wireless networks communications,
  • Antenna emitter/detector arrays, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems,
  • Wide-band modulation techniques/signal processing algorithms,
  • Metamaterials for mmWave/THz and Beam steering applications
  • Integrated photonic circuits for mmWave/THz applications,
  • Simultaneous wireless communication and power transfer.
