DENTAL LOUNGE, DUSSELDORF, GERMANY - The architects' intention to break with stereotypes and common patterns of perception are of special interest, especially when designing a dental practice, which is often tainted with negative preconceptions. Warm, comforting colours of brown, orange and red, the lounge atmosphere and the successful space sculpture are all important elements within the effect of the practice, signifying the patients' well-being. The main source of inspiration is the Aesculapius Staff, the snake winding around the staff - a symbol of the medical profession. Practice and design revolve around the patient, with the 'twister', a sculpture winding from the wall and stretching over the ceiling, practically drawing the patient towards the reception desk.
