Surgeries and Local Disinfection Units (LDUs) now have to eliminate overflows in sinks and bowls as these have been deemed to be primary sources of cross infection and Legionnaire's Disease. This does not create a problem for hand wash basins as the plug can be removed completely.

The stainless steel standing waste simply, quickly and inexpensively overcomes the problem of overflows in sinks and bowls. The standing waste rises vertically from the plug hole and is open at the top, just below the rim of the sink. The design allows any excess water to spill down the middle of the tube and act as an overflow.

The standing waste prevents flooding complies with HTM 01-05 and meets the requirements of insurance companies. Two models are available from Paradigm Design Solutions: one for basket strainer sink apertures and one for 1.5” waste.
