Previous work by the same group showed that, in humans, antibody titres 4 weeks after TIV vaccination correlate with TLR5 gene expression levels within 3 days of vaccination. In this study, the authors confirmed that TIV cannot directly stimulate TLR5, and they set out to determine the causal link between TLR5 expression and the response to TIV.
