Dear Editor:

The timely review of Massart et al.1 discussed xenoestrogens (environmental pollutants) and possible human health impact through breast-feeding exposure. Two important aspects escaped this scholarly discussion of environmental pollution and breast-feeding contamination: (a) estrogenicity of other substances in the maternal diet, and (b) the placenta (and fat metabolism) as an additional source of vertical transmission of endocrine disruptors.
