All-round service

Trycare provides a complete endodontic service, with a range of innovative products for dentists.

Roto Files are designed to make the preparation of root canals easier. Made from flexible nickel titanium, they follow the natural path of even the most curvaceous canal and non-end-cutting tips reduce the risk of lateral perforations.

Multifill is a root-filling system using warm gutta percha with compactor rotary instruments. Trycare says the system is quicker than methods that use lateral condensation. The compactor is like an inverted Hedstroem file, so it 'unscrews' out from the material to leave behind a root canal filled with pure GP.

Push the button

W&H has announced that its Endo NiTi contra-angle handpieces are now available in a press-button version, with a smaller head for easy access.

Strong and flexible nickel-titanium alloy files, which allow the preparation of root canals with rotating files, are now popular in endodontics. W&H says that, by using this method, superior results can be achieved with a combination of Endo NiTi press-button contra-angle handpieces with nickel titanium files using the 'crown down' technique.

Spring is in the air

Panadent now has offers on endodontic products, including Thomas instruments, paper and GP points as part of its Spring promotion.

Dentists get a free 'Cuddle Frog' with every purchase made, and an Eleganze attache case worth £50 with all orders over £497. The Eleganze is a polished, ribbed aluminium case that holds A4 paper and comes with a memo pad and pen.

There are also offers on impression materials, infection-control products and many other items, but dentists must include at least one of the 'max' deals from the endodontic paper/GP point offers in their order to claim the Eleganze case.

Rely on Quayle

The endodontic range from Quayle Dental includes pulp testers, apex locators and sterilisation equipment, all chosen to provide the accuracy and reliability that dentists require for endodontic work.

The dental electronics model B1000 costs £175 and is a lightweight, hand-held battery operated manual pulp tester. The model DP2000 is also self-contained and battery operated, but features an LCD readout and is fully automatic, cutting off the power after use to save on battery life. Both units feature 'painless tooth stimuli' and can be used with gloved hands with the help of a ground lead, supplied as an optional extra.

Neosono APEX locators provide a more rapid interpretation of root canal length than x-rays, making work on molars and overlapping roots easier. Neosono units are based on integrated circuitry that prevents false readings and improves accuracy, even with pulp present in the canal.

Neosona Ultima EZ is the first dual circuitry wet/dry apex locator with digital distance readout and pulp tester option. Without needing calibration, the Ultima EZ provides accurate measurements where hypochlorite, anaesthetic, peroxide, saline, blood, water, pus or pulp are present. The unit also works well in dry canals. It costs £796, and is powered by a 9-volt battery.

The Neosono MC microcomputer combines the capabilities of the Neosono with the technological capability of a microcomputer, costing £499+VAT.

The UK-manufactured Steritherm glass-bead steriliser is kept at 250°C for the rapid chairside sterilisation of endodontic instruments. BSI tested, it retails at £149+VAT.

First past the post

Flexi-post is a split-shank, threaded post system from Myerson that provides maximum retention with minimum stress.

When a Flexi-post is inserted its split shank adapts to the canal, absorbing stress by gradually closing. High retention is achieved by deep, sharp threads along the full length of the post. Flexi-post normally costs £154+VAT and is now available in an Intro kit with 12 posts.

Retro goes forward

SonicRetro from KaVo has been designed so that dentists can avoid the problems associated with the preparation of apical cavities after apicectomy, such as restricted access and poor visibility due to bleeding.

It uses a range of eight diamond tips, contra-angled for precise, axial-orientated retrograde root canal preparation in all areas of the jaw. Sonic Retro tips allow easy access to the root apex and genuine retrograde preparation to at least 3mm.
