Abstract
Quarks play a central part in particle physics. They were introduced as three fundamental, irreducible building blocks whose combinations reproduced the vast spectroscopy and static properties of hadronic states. Here we are concerned with the extension of the quark concept to collisions: the quark–parton model provides a description of the weak, electromagnetic and strong scattering processes.
