Abstract
AN experimental animal model of human ulcerative colitis has long been required, as there is no model with an immunological basis available. We report here the induction of inflammatory ulcerative changes in rat colon mucosa, similar to those of human ulcerative colitis. The lesions were consistently obtained by an experimental procedure that induces specific adult anti-foetal tissue immuno-reactivity.
