Induction of Directional Chromosome Elimination in Somatic Cell Hybrids

Abstract

The chromosomes of one or other of the “parents” of a hybrid cell are usually gradually lost over successive generations. X-irradiation, γ-irradiation or BUDR labelling of one “parent” before fusion can be used to predetermine which of the two sets of chromosomes will be preferentially lost.
